Get the most accurate fly rod in existence and land more fish on every trip. Whatever the location, whatever the fish, the H3D is ready for it: Big rivers or saltwater, bonefish or bass-those accurate drops earn more bends in the rod, it’s as simple as that. Pushing through a gusty saltwater wind is no big deal-the Helios 3D has the power to get your fly there, and the accuracy to drop it right where you want it. The H3D rod churns out precise casts that are the stuff of legend-because it’s the pinpoint delivery of flies that takes you from a quiet day on the water to battling predator fish ripping down the flats. Increased hoop strength means reduced vibration for a consistently crisp release, because we know accuracy is paramount. We’ve reduced the variables at the point of release to focus the energy behind every cast. We designed the Helios 3D fly rod to cast at impressive distances without sacrificing power-and it hits the mark every time. To play the game at its highest level there can be no compromise and for every angler the H3 is the pinnacle of purpose, designed to master the moment and meet the demands of accuracy on a spring creek with a 3F or a tarpon flat with a 3D. The difference is taper and stiffness, but the design foundation of accuracy remains constant. It was the perfect opportunity to test each of these rods for their strengths and their weaknesses. In my rod quiver for the trip were two Helios 3 eight weights, the F and the D. 3D is accuracy with power at distance for pinpoint delivery of larger flies. As you would expect, there were some beautiful days and some real howlers. 3F is accuracy with finesse, a dry fly angler's dream. We designed the Helios 3F to be a finesse rod for precision placements. Helios 3F and 3D each offer uncompromising purpose. Just before we left the shop, my buddy noticed the new Orvis Helios 3 9 5wt D on the rack all rigged up and ready to cast in the lot. The Helios 3D offers power and distance, especially if youre casting big flies in wind. The H3 brings us a fundamental shift from flex profiles to a new frontier in accuracy and purpose-driven design. Hurling a fly across the water and hoping for a strike wont. Reflect on your greatest successes and failures as an angler and the answer is clear. Helios 3 offers a crisp feel in hand for an unbeatable casting experience. Here is Orvis’ inexpensive 5-weight that is built in China, unlike the Helios 3 and Recon that are built in their Vermont factory. ![]() Making a forty-foot cast on the nose of a laid-up tarpon is fishing. ![]() Making an 80-foot cast in saltwater is prospecting. Whether it's the right drift in the feeding lane, the sightline of a cruising predator, or the right level of the water column, the difference between success and failure is often measured in inches.Īll modern fly rods are powerful, but accuracy is the new frontier in fly design. The H3F also delivers the finesse required to delicately drop a fly without spooking fish, and it has plenty of backbone to haul in the big fish of your dreams without flinching. There is a famous quote by Wyatt Earp, "Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything." What anglers discover with experience is just that. The Helios 3F reduces the variables and harnesses the energy behind each cast for enhanced accuracy, so you can reach the far bank and drop a fly with precision every time. The difference of a couple of inches can make or break a catch. Hurling a fly across the water and hoping for a strike won’t win any trophies-it’s those accurate drops that bring in the real prize. I have met so many amazing people from working with this company it is insane! the hardest part of my job is dealing with theft and telling people when they need to leave because of their actions, they usually aren't happy, but fortunately i am very good at keeping my composure when it comes to confrontation. My typical day at work is NEVER the same, there is always something new, which is very exciting! the most enjoyable part of my job is working with other people, my co-workers and the customers. Absolutely no benefits unless you are the store manager. Very little opportunity for growth as they will not promote anyone in store, start at minimum wage and make you fight tooth and nail for the smallest of raises. but none of these things was allowed when they had their full staff. It’s a busy season, we’re short staffed, this is peak selling hours, etc. ![]() I left a little over a year ago, and they lost yet another manager and are no longer enforcing ANY of the policies they made us do (before they lost their entire experienced staff.) I have been in a few times since I quit, and all they do is make excuses for why their staff is doing so poorly. we physically could not keep up with the amount of buys we were doing/the amount of money we were paying out/go backs/tagging and processing while still having to greet customers, do sales, etc. Did not have overlapping coverage because we did not have the employees to do so, were constantly overwhelmed with buys (10+ all coming in at once, 15+ queued in line to be done, no shelf space, completely full bins, etc.) and management did, quite literally, nothing to help. We’re incredibly short staffed post Covid, and owners did very little to help hire as this was the managers job- which we did not have. ![]() Went through about 4 different managers in the span of about 6 months. Owners lived in a different state so visited MAYBE once a year. Good environment, low stress, very easy and the discount on clothes was great! Workplace was totally fine before Covid- after, however, management was AWFUL. ![]() ![]() EvernoteĮvernote is one of those apps I sort of don’t remember not existing. Based on the experience I’ve had with note-taking apps for the Mac, I came up with six great options depending on what’s important to you. When looking at the best note-taking app for the Mac, the factors that are important for me are: ability to organize in folders/tags, speed of search, and ease of adding new notes from other apps. On the iPad, handwriting integration with Apple Pencil might take priority. ![]() On the iPhone, speed of starting a new note might take priority. When looking at macOS note-taking apps, your needs may look drastically different from what you’ll want on iPhone and iPad. I’ll run through a few of the apps, and then I’ll help you figure out which will be the best note-taking app for you to try. Most of the apps offer free trials, so I advise you to check them all out. I’ve used dozens of apps over the years, and I have opinions on what a note-taking app for Mac should look like for my use cases. When I am looking for the best note-taking app for the Mac, I am looking for a few different things: sync to iOS (and web if possible), easy to add new notes, and easy to look up existing notes. You then have apps like Bear and Apple Notes which aim to live somewhere in the middle. There are apps like Evernote which aim to be an “everything” bucket and apps like SimpleNote that only handle plain text notes. Note taking apps for Mac are a fun category to look at because of the variety of options on the market. |
